 1. Myths and misconception about HIV/AIDS;
MYTH –Is traditional story trying to explain the natural phenomenons to which are not correct.
MISCONCEPTION-the false information said about a situation, or the false impression, belie. MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTION
| FACTS | - HIV is the punishment or curse from GOD caused by breaking some rules.
| - HIV is not a punishment or a curse from God. It is a sexually transmitted disease or STI

| - By the look of an eye you can tell who is HIV positive or not.
| - It is only through a test that a person’s HIV status can be determined.
| - When HIV positive you will die within a very short time.
| - With the availability of ARV's, PLHIV’s lives have been prolonged.HIV has become a chronic or life-long disease which can be treated.

| - You become sexually inactive when you are HIV positive.
| - You can still be sexually active when you are HIV positive, but it important to have safe sex.
| - Condoms are ineffective in the prevention of HIV transmission.
| - If used correctly and consistently condoms are very effective in preventing HIV transmission. Actually they are the only way to prevent transmission during sex.
| - Having sex with a virgin cures HIV/AIDS.
| - To date there is no cure of HIV.
| - Nothing can be done to stop the further spread of HIV/AIDS.
| - A lot has been done to prevent HIV from spreading ,eg using condoms, going to VCT’s ,treatment of STI’s prevention of mother-to-child transmission etc.
| - Once a partner is positive, the other one is automatically positive.
| - Not always. Discordant couples exist. Some people get AIDS easily than others. Everyone needs their own HIV test.
| - Poverty is the only contribution to HIV/AIDS infection.
| - Both rich and pure can be infected with HIV.
| - Taking human urine can cure HIV in the body.
| - Urine does not cure HIV. Currently there is no cure for HIV.
